Week 47: Compassvale, Singapore

The Chronicles of Compassvale

Good morning! This was an interesting week...

The highlight of the week (and honestly one of the highlights of my mission) was our lunch with Lisa. Lisa is a really strong member, but her ex-husband is less active, and her son and his girlfriend (Debbie) are both not members. Generally we meet with Lisa and Debbie, but this week Lisa and Jimmy (the ex-husband) joined us. We talked to Jimmy for a while, and Lisa kept telling us about how he hasn't prayed for a long time. At the end of the lesson, Jimmy said a prayer, and Lisa started crying. It was such a spiritual experience and I think that Lisa really saw hope for her family. It was so sweet!

The rest of the week was OK lah! Elder Stone has been feeling kind of sick, and so he went to the hospital this week, which was too bad for him. But, it was fun to see how the Singaporean medical system works at 1AM.

We also got lunch with Sabrina again, which was good! I don't think she's closer to coming back to church, but I'm glad we're on speaking terms again.

We also taught the usual people (Michelle, Johnny, Zul) which was good!

Sunday, all of the people who said they would come to church overslept! Ahh! So is the life of a missionary. But, Vishnu came to church again, and he is so cool! We had a really deep lesson about the Plan of Salvation, and then he taught us some Tamil. It is a crazy language! He also taught us about the Book of Mormon, and he remembered the first 10 chapters of 1 Nephi so well!

I am having a really good time on my mission. Days/weeks can be hard, but little tender mercies make it all worth it.

Psalms 82:7 - "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High."

I really love being able to tell people that when life is hard, there's someone there helping you through it, because we are children of the most High! I love you all, have a fantastic week!

Best,
