Week 39: Ipoh, Malaysia

The Illusion of Ipoh

First things first, my time in Ipoh has come to an abrupt end...on Wednesday I am going to Compassvale Ward in Singapore (most of east Singapore). I am sad to leave Ipoh, but honestly I am SO PUMPED to go to Singapore. Now I need to come up with a new name? The Count of Compassvale? I have no idea!

This week was really great! We had a pretty regular week, meeting with lots of people and having a great time. This week, I have been working on asking inspired questions. So, I asked one of the people we are teaching "What can you do to make the Sacrament more meaningful?" and his response was "Order Pizza Hut." It wasn't quite the answer I was going for, but it did make me laugh. The rest of the people we are teaching are doing well also. We met this really cute family, but their lesson ended early because their child really had to poop haha. It was so cute, and we are meeting them again this week!

The spiritual high from the week was definitely Saturday. Monday to Friday, we did not see a lot of success and it seemed like everything was tumbling down. But, we kept our sights high, and on Saturday we saw a lot of cool miracles.
We met this cool guy named Lai, and he said "It must be hard to do missionary work in Malaysia...I will help you and bring my friends to church." It was so cool to see that as we pushed through the rough spots, we saw miracles!

The more I serve my mission, the more I love it! I am pretty surprised to be going to Singapore, but excited for the opportunities that it will bring. I hope that you all can feel my love and my gratitude for everything you do for me. Have a great week!

Don't forget to smile!

Pictures:

1. Us with Elder Paneer, a very cool member of our branch.
2. Some omelette friend Rice (I think it should be fried rice)
3. My ex and I after a long bike ride in the rain (we took our ties off)
4. I bought some macaroni and cheese and ginger beer for a preparation day snack. It was delicious!
