Chronicles of Compassvale
Good morning! First off, thank you for the wonderful name suggestions...Chronicles much better than Count haha.
This was a really fantastic week! We saw a ton of really cool miracles!
First off, we went to visit our friend Lisa, who is from Thailand and has been a member of the church for quite a few years. We were hoping to teach her husband and help him come back to church, but then SURPRISE! her son's girlfriend ended up being there. We taught her about prayer, and then the next day she said she prayed to have a good day and then had a really good day! She was so excited to come to church, but then she got really sick so she couldn't come. But, she will be there next week!
We also met with Sabrina and her kids this week! Sabrina wants us to teach her kids, and also she wants them to serve a mission! Now, we are just trying to help them be baptized soon. We also went over to her house to dedicate it because she said there are some evil spirits there. It was fun, I have never cast evil spirits out of a house before!!
Linda and her kids (the China family) also came to church again this week. It was really fun to see them again!
We also met with Kok Wah Lim, a member who was baptized who hasn't been to church in 50 years (when the church was first set up in Singapore). We met with him and he came to church this Sunday! He is so funny...he is easily 70 years old, but is looking to get married and have kids. After church he said "Sister Mareen shook my hand, and she held it for a very long time. Is she married?" To that, we responded that yes she was married, and then he was kinda bummed. He is so cute! We are going to buy matching shirts with him.
Missionary work here in Singapore is really different. We mostly just work through the members, which is really fun. We get to know them, and love and serve them, and then missionary work just flows from there. It is actually a lot more effective I think, and I hope it can lead to some people being baptized soon!
Elder Stone and I are getting along very well! He is a really cool guy!
Last Monday we went to see the Singapore Merlion, but it was closed! I'll try to go another Monday. I'm not totally sure what we are doing today, but whatever it is I will take pictures!
I love you all so much! I am so grateful for all of your love and support. Keep having a great life!
Don't forget to smile!
Best,
Elder Weatherford
Spiritual Thought (D&C 64:33): "Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great." Oh man, it is easy to be tired and not see the results of our work! But we need to remember to continue to push hard and work hard, because we are slowly laying the foundation. One day we will look back on everything we did and know that it was all worth it!
Pictures:
1. Some steak that a member bought us (I'm not in Butterworth anymore Todo...)
2-3. This is what Singapore looks like (crazy, right?)
4. Elder Stone at the land transport museum we ended up going to last week.
5. Another picture of Singapore.
6. The Merlion (under renovation) plus a confused white guy.
7. Sister Mary, a 91 year old woman who was baptized in Jurong Ward. Elder Stone taught her, so we attended her baptism.
