Week 50: Singapore Second Ward

The Sermon of Second Ward

Hello everyone! It has been such an amazing week, honestly probably the best week of my mission!

On Monday, We had a cool celebration of Iftar with 500 Malay friends here in Singapore. The whole event was in cooperation with a bit mosque, and it was so fun. Elder Stone and I stood at the front and welcomed people to their seats.

And then Tuesday and Wednesday were zone Conference, which was really fun! It is always exciting to see the other missionaries again, although I will admit it is not as exciting now that I am in Singapore 24/7, not just for a few days.

And then the rest of the week was absolutely amazing! All we do all day is Talk to people from China which is so so so so fun. My Chinese is growing a lot and the people are so friendly and they remind me so much of my friends from Xi'an. It's pretty funny, the people from China stand out so much compared to the Singaporeans.

Sunday was a really great day also. First, We went down to the Compassvale Chapel for Vishnu's baptism. I had to Baptize him two times because the first time a little bit of his hair stuck out. And after his baptism he kept saying "I just got baptized, I'm so happy!" And, the 2nd Ward is so cool! There are so many people here from Mainland China and it is so fun to hear them share about the Gospel IN Chinese!

We are teaching a couple really cool people, one is named Yu Ze. He is going to China for a couple Weeks, and then he will be baptized. The other guy is named Jia Min, and his baptism is at the end of this month! Woo hoo!

Everything is going really well with Elder Pack and the Second Ward is fantastic! I hope to stay here a long time. I talked to President Rowley and he said that When I finish this 90 day stamp, I will fly to Malaysia for a couple of days and then fly back to Singapore. Should be exciting!

I hope that one day I can have gifted hands...my future is still kinda up in the air, but I still really do want to become a surgeon. Hopefully my life will work out so that I can do it. Also, since serving in the 2nd Ward I realize that I 100% want to Live in China, so we can plan on doing that sometime!

Elder Pack and I go running 5 times a week, and I am also so exhausted and cranky while I am running, but afterwards it feels so good. Running is hard, but it is growing on me. Are you still going on walks?

I love you all so so much! I hope you had great Weeks and can feel my love and support. This Week, my testimony of God's timing increased a lot. I now see that God knew I would serve in this Ward, and so he provided a way for me to go to Xi'an so I could prepare. The Lord really does know the details of the details of our lives.

Love you all so much!

Best,
Elder Weatherford
