The Call to Kuching
Hello everyone! It has been a very exciting week here in Kuching, Malaysia. I am excited but also surprised and a little sad to be saying that I am getting transferred to Singapore 2nd Ward again on Wednesday
, this time as the District Leader! My time in Kuching was VERY short, but I had a great time. It feels a little bit like I am getting thrown around, but as the song says, I'll go where you want me to go!
After I arrived here on Monday, we took a short 20 minute power nap and then studied some Chinese and then went out contacting people. Missionary work can be a little tricky with 3 people (since that is a lot of people), so we mostly split off and do 1 person by themselves and then 2 people together. What I thought was hilarious was that the Elders here in Kuching (Elder Carter and Elder Tauteoli) had no idea that I was coming, so they were a little surprised to hear they would be in a trio for a week and a half. Oh well.
We met a nice man named Chong this week, who ended up coming to church and meeting with us twice! He was cute, and it was a great opportunity to practice my Malaysian Chinese again.
This week was President Rowley's last Zone Conference, and so he gave us lots of good advice on how to be successful in life and other good things, and then we said goodbye to them. We also had Kuching District Conference this weekend, which was very exciting. It was a good time to see 400 Ibans together. The whole meeting was in Malay, so I mostly tried to understand and said personal prayers during.
It is crazy to me that President Rowley is so close to going home and then President Woo will be here. The past year flew by, and I think the next one will be even faster. But as for now, I am happy and healthy and glad to be here in Kuching and glad to be going back to Singapore soon.
This week, I saw a wonderful video on fathers produced by the church. It made me grateful for my amazing dad, and also for my Heavenly Father.
I love you all! Don't forget to smile!
Best,
Elder Weatherford
