Week 65: Singapore Second Ward

The Sermon of Second Ward

Good morning everyone!

Another week has gone by. It was a pretty tough week, which some golden nuggets dispersed throughout.

On Wednesday we went to go teach one of our friends named Wang, and we went into the construction site where he was eating to teach him. We were talking to him (and some of the other Indian guys inside) but then his boss came in and asked why We were here, and then he kicked us out. That was kinda hilarious but also hard.

Then on the train this nice lady from China came up to us and said "Wow your Chinese is so good!" Then we talked to her, and we asked for her phone number and she asked us "Are you taking my phone number to stay in touch or to invite me to church, because I won't come to church." Long story short, she came to church and loved it a lot! She is so cool, we are excited to teach her!

This Saturday, Wang got baptized. It was a very amazing experience, so Spirit filled. He got baptized three times, and the last time he just kinda cannonballed into the water which was adorable. On Sunday, I got to confirm him in Chinese! We were outside trying to help someone find the church, and then We ran up the stairs to confirm him so When I did it I was SUPER out of breath, but it was an amazing experience.

But then on Sunday, Judy texted us and said that she found her church, and in the future wasn't going to come to our church anymore. When I saw that, my heart dropped. We got out of the MRT, Sat down, and called and talked to her. It was a really hard day, Elder Strong and I felt like we had put so much into helping her and in the end she rejected. I just cried and asked why it had happened. But the thought that came into my heart was that Jesus Christ feels that way as well. He feels invested in us, and When we go astray He cries too. If we want to become more like Him, we need to understand what He feels.

So, it was a hard week. It was a week where the adversary felt really real and it was hard to see the light. But, I think I learned more this week than I could ever have learned in a perfect life. So for that I am happy. I am grateful for trials and for a God who hears our Prayers and knows what we feel.

Have a great week! Don't forget to smile!

Best,
Elder Weatherford

Wang's Baptism was really amazing, it was a sweet experience. In his testimony, he talked about how he met me last year at Chinatown. I think that I contacted him while I was serving in Butterworth, but while I was on exchanges in Singapore for a couple days. And then I texted him and he came to church and he got baptized. Wow, isn't that amazing how it all worked out? God really does have an amazing plan.

Judy's news made me so sad, it made me feel really sad, a different kind of sad. I just wanted to sit down and call you and talk through it, but I am grateful that I was able to do that today. I'm sure that Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother feel so sad When they see some of their children not following them, but they still find happiness. I felt sad, but also found lots of Joy through it. I think this is preparing me to be a parent When I have kids who have their own paths and take their own time to come to the truth.

Hey mom, I know I say this every week but I mean it with every inch of my heart....I love you so much! I can't wait until that blessed day When I get to hug you again after two years, and we get to continue our adventure together. I am so excited to hear all of your Missionary stories starting in less than two Weeks! Woo hoo!
