Week 55: Singapore Second Ward

The Sermon of Singapore

Another week has flown by!

This was a very exciting week for sure! On Monday, we went finding, and we met this sweet family from Beijing who said they would come to church on Sunday! They are really adorable...the husband has super poofy black hair, he looks like an Mad scientist. And then on Sunday, 20 minutes into sacrament, they walked in the door. They remembered to come to church! It was such a cool miracle...we are meeting them again this Wednesday.

On Friday, I went on exchanges with one of the Elders here in my District (Elder Orr). We went finding at Chinatown, and one person we contacted asked what we did, and we said volunteer work and then he looked confused, looked down at our nametags, and then said "Oh, Jesus! I really like!" He is excited to come to church haha.

Our other people are doing really well as well. Zhao (赵) passed his Baptismal interview with flying colors, so we are excited for that this week. A couple concerns came up in Yu Ze's practice Baptismal interview, so we are going to wait a little bit for him. It was sad to see him not be able to baptized as quickly as we thought...I felt like crying, but I am sure God has a good plan for him. Anna and Junyi are doing amazing, and Jimmy is doing pretty good as well. Overall, things are going very great!

We also met with a new woman from Haerbin, a part of northern China, and her accent was so thick that Elder Pack and I both got out of the lesson and said "What just happened?"

God really does bless us, it is amazing to see that and feel that. When you think of how God promises us a member of the Godhead with us at all times, it makes me really grateful for such an amazing blessing. I am excited to go back to the temple, it has been far too long.

I appreciate you praying for me and my investigators, I really really can feel it. Wow, at times I feel overwhelmed and discouraged and alone so far away from my family. But, I feel in my heart that this is where I need to be, and I know that I will look back on my mission and just remember the hearts that touched me and the hearts I touched. I think that's how we'll look back on our whole mortal life. We'll tell our family members stories and think "Wow, I don't know how I got through 90 years of that, but I loved it!"

Life is going really great, just way too fast. I hope that you all had a good week as well, and you can feel my love for you all the way on this side of the planet. More importantly, I hope you can feel God's love for all of you. He's there cheering us on every moment!

Love you all! Don't forget to smile!

Best,
Elder Weatherford
