The Sermon of Second Ward
Hello! This was a great week! Like usual it flew by super fast and a lot happened.
On Monday and Tuesday, we had our Zone Conference...it was fun to hear from President and Sister Woo, as well as our Mission nurse. During her presentation she didn't mention any Names, but she did say that there is a "Ingrown Toenail Society" in the Mission. I guess I am not the Only one!
On Wednesday we met with Zhao, who is moving back to China. It was really hard to say goodbye to him, but I still think it is so cool that God allowed him to come to Singapore just long enough to get baptized. Now that he is in China, we need to be more careful with what we send him, so we send him lots of messages like "We love doing volunteer work for the Society."
We also met another cool person named Judy, who is slowly learning about Christianity. Her mother in Law is a Christian and so she is pretty curious, and we had a good lesson about prayer and who Heavenly Father is.
On Thursday was Elder Strong's year mark, so we went out for sushi to celebrate.
On Friday, I went on exchanges with Elder Bishop, who is serving in one of the other wards here in Singapore. It was fun to be companions with him again. While I was with him, Elder Strong and Elder Bishop's companion went to a service project. Since it was National Day this week, lots of people didn't work, and so our ward had a service project at a nursing Home.
Saturday and Sunday were good days as well, but really busy. In Elder's Quorum, some of the members got in a fight about the Word of Wisdom and ministering, and so it kinda scared away some of the new friends we brought to church. But oh well, what is past is past haha.
On Sunday, we had a cool (small but still cool) miracle. Elder Strong and I were both really thirsty from sweating all day, and we wanted to buy a drink from a vending machine. So we pooled our coins together, just to find out that we were 10 cents short. So, we said a prayer, and then We met some nice tourists from Japan, and we asked if we could borrow 10 cents from them. They gave us 10 cents and we ran to the vending machine. But, as we were putting in the coins, we realized that the machine didn't accept 5 cent coins, so we were still 20 cents short. We thought we were defeated, but as we went to reach for the 5 cent coins that the machine spit out, we realized that someone left a 20 cent coin still in the machine. We had just enough to buy a coca cola and continue with the day.
I know that it sounds crazy, but it was a very good miracle. I think that it shows how God works. Sometimes, He has a miracle in store for us, but He asks us to do our part first. If we hadn't asked the Japanese tourists for some money, we never would have gone to the vending machine or checked to see if there was 20 cents. It was a miracle! Plus that story could totally be in a general Conference talk in 20 years.
I hope that you all are doing well, I love you all so so much! I am excited to hear from you all and I look forward to reading your emails. Have a great day!
Don't forget to smile (I think I wrote it as smoke last week, sorry about that)!
